After strong Xbox One sales during the holiday season using a price drop marketing campaign and surpassing Sony’s PlayStation 4 sales, Microsoft is announcing today that the $50 price drop is coming back on January 16, setting Xbox One back to the $349 price, we’ve seen through the holiday season.
It’s not clear, but the new $349 pricing could be permanent for the Xbox One console without the Kinect sensor. Microsoft mentions that the price is for U.S. consumers, but it does not mention if the permanent price drop will be available worldwide.
The company also reveals that Xbox One was the best-selling console in the U.S. in November and December, outpacing Xbox 360 by fifty-percent at the same point on the life of the console.

Microsoft’s Phil Spencer also revealed that next week the company will be talking about gaming for Windows 10. Although, no specific details were said, it’s now confirmed that we’ll hear the plan on how the Xbox gaming experience with come to Windows 10 for the desktop, tablet, and phone.
