Microsoft announces today at the Game Developer Conference (GDC) its plan for gaming on Xbox and Windows 10 moving forward. Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, revealed that the company is committed to bring the full power of Xbox Live to Windows 10. The first step to accomplish this goal is by releasing a new Xbox Live SDK that offers the same APIs on Xbox One and Windows 10 devices.

Beginning today the company is releasing the Xbox Live SDK preview for a selected group of developers to create new games and apps with plans to make the SDK available to everyone in the coming months.

The software development kit enables programmers to build apps based on the Windows 10 Universal app model that runs across phones, tablets, PCs, and obviously, Xbox One, which seems will be a very straightforward process. The kit also includes access to the Xbox Live services and the company is also creating a new level of Xbox Live to allow developers to engage with the community.

During the announcement, the software maker also said that more details on apps for Xbox One will be revealed during the Build conference in April.
